For the better part of fifteen years I sat inside operating teams before stepping out on my own. The pattern was always the same: the right answer was usually in the room, just buried under noise. My job is to clear the noise, ask the unwelcome question early, and leave the team able to keep going without me.
I take on a small number of engagements at a time. That is deliberate. Depth over breadth, and a real stake in whether the work holds up six months later.
